Leyland's lunch with a legend

If you fancy a free lunch with Richard Evans and a great weekend away then all you have to do is to buy the golden ticket!

The great Richard Evans

4BR’s very own ‘Dinner Guest’ feature has provided the Leyland Band with the inspiration behind their latest innovative fund raising concept.

Richard Evans

For the past few weeks bands across the UK have been receiving tickets and an invitation to take part in a raffle being run by Leyland Band Patrons Group with a first prize of a wonderful lunch with the legend that is the great raconteur Richard Evans as part of a weekend stay at a Four Star hotel.

Incentives

As an incentive for band's to participate, the Leyland organisers have offered 20% of the total profit to the band whose name appears on the winning ticket – with the chance to earn anything up to £2,000.

The Leyland Band themselves are not allowed to be recipients of the cash prize, so, should one of their supporters be lucky enough to be drawn out of the hat, another winner will be sought.

Furthermore, all bands who participate are allowed to keep 10% of money they raise, for their own funds.

Open announcement

Spokesperson Jim Doran told 4BR: "Having been generously offered the opportunity to make the draw live at the British Open this year, we have also earmarked a further 10% of the profits to help towards the running of next year's Spring Festival, in Blackpool."

Prize package

And with the opportunity to spend two nights, with full bed and breakfast at the Four Star Best Western Hotel in Leyland, the full use of the facilities, chauffeur driven transport from Preston railway station or any north west airport if applicable, as well as to the Whittles Farm Restaurant, three course lunch with free bottle of wine and return transport — he certainly believes it’s a prize well worth winning!

Scheherazade

Jim added: "It’s seems appropriate that the winners will have the chance to spend a wonderful lunch with the man who has more stories and tales to tell about the banding world than Scheherazade – especially as that’s the test piece at the British Open this year!

Not only is it a great prize, it’s also the chance to spend a relaxing time at a great hotel, and you can enjoy meeting up with one of the truly great brass band legends too."
