Cosh steps down at Sherborne

The highly respected Paul Cosh has decided to step down as MD of Sherborne Town.

Paul Cosh has announced that he is to step down as the full time Musical Director of Sherborne Town Band.

Connection

His lifetime connection with the West of England based band will remain, although with increased professional work commitments he told 4BR that he felt it was the right time to allow a new conductor to take the helm.

"I have had a great time with my home town band," he said.

"I’ve enjoyed every minute of it – from the contesting in Second Section to promotion to the Championship Section where we have stayed for a few years now – coming close to making our first appearance at the top section finals at the Albert Hall in 2012 when we came 3rd at the West of England Area."

We now have a thriving youth band to secure our future, so I think the time has come to pass the baton onPaul Cosh

Victory

The Mortimer Medal winner’s first conducting victory with the band came as far back as 1998, and since that time he has worked to develop Sherborne into a consistent contesting force.

He added: "We now have a thriving youth band to secure our future, so I think the time has come to pass the baton on. I’m delighted that I will remain as musical advisor to the band and to take them through the transition.

Whoever takes over will enjoy conducting a wonderful band full of wonderful people."
