Cricket lovers served music and tea at Old Trafford

The sound of leather on willow is also being accompanied by tea and brass band music at the Ashes test in Manchester at the moment...

Yorkshire Tea Band

Sun baked cricket lovers are being served up welcome extra helpings of music and good old Yorkshire tea at the Third Ashes test match between England and Australia at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Yorkshire Tea

The ‘Yorkshire Tea Band’ – otherwise known as members of Marsden Silver Band, have been booked to provide a musical accompaniment to the company’s promotional activities at the event – playing along as piping hot cuppas are served to cricket lovers – both Australian and even Lancastrian!

The band has been featured in the high profile television commercials over the last month or so, but is currently on hand at the test match ground each day to provide the music as much need non-alcoholic refreshments are handed out to parched supporters!

it’s a wonderful way to enjoy a superb occasion and the response we get from the tea drinkers is fantastic. Even the Australians love a good old cup of English tea!Marsden Band

Amazing response

And despite it being provided by a Yorkshire branded company and a Yorkshire band, the response from both Lancastrians and Aussies has been amazing, according to one of the band members.

"It’s been brilliant," they told 4BR. "We are dressed up for the occasion of course, but it’s a wonderful way to enjoy a superb occasion and the response we get from the tea drinkers is fantastic. Even the Australians love a good old cup of English tea!"

Boycott and friends

Keep an eye and ear out for the band, who have already been mentioned on the iconic Test Match Special programme on radio by Geoffrey Boycott and pals for their fine efforts!
