Marshall heads to Japan

Black Dyke principal cornet player Richard Marshall will be flying to the land of the rising sun.

Following the release this week of his latest CD, entitled, ‘The Cornet Heritage Collection Volume Two’, Black Dyke principal cornet Richard Marshall is to travel to Japan.

Guest soloist

Richard will appear as guest soloist with Brass Band H.B.B at their 15th anniversary concert, where he will perform a range of solos including ‘Napoli’, ‘Song of Exultation’, ‘Don't Doubt Him Now’, ‘Blessed Assurance’ and ‘Carnival of Venice’.

Following the concert, Richard will present a cornet recital on behalf of the Buffet Group Japan, which will also feature a performance alongside Takenori Yokota, one Japan’s most respected cornet players.

Tuition

Richard will also provide tuition to cornet students from the Osaka region, before flying back home to the UK on December 4th.

Commenting on the trip, Richard told 4BR: "It's probably been twelve years since my last visit to Japan and I'm thoroughly looking forward to it.

I'm playing around fifteen different solos during my two appearances, so the last few weeks have been busy."
