Evans and Farr set for Cornish Christmas

Richard Evans and Owen Farr will be leading the festive music making in Cornwall this year.

The 76 young musicians of the Cornwall Youth Brass Band will be spending four days of their Christmas holidays rehearsing under the baton of guest conductor Richard Evans at their residential course at Truro High for Girls.

Flying in

Richard will be flying in from Japan where he is currently coaching and conducting, to make a welcome return to the band he last directed in 2010.

Cory’s horn star Owen Farr (above) will be the featured guest soloist at the Gala Concert at St. Michael’s Church in Newquay on December 30th.

New work

Among his solos will be a new work written for him by a former youth band member, Christopher Bond from Camborne, at present studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music in Cardiff, whilst Owen will also be giving the lucky students a recital and masterclass.

Working hard

The young musicians, whose ages range from 10 to 21 have been preparing for the course by working on the music at monthly rehearsals at Truro College with resident conductors Alan Pope, Aaron Harvey and Jeremy Willcock and their team of tutors.
