International panel set for open judging in Bergen

The details of the international panel of judges who will judge at the Norwegian Nationals has been announced.

The international panel of judges who will have the task of deciding on the destination of the various Norwegian national titles at Bergen’s Grieg Hall on the weekend of 7th/8th February have been announced.

Elite panels

The twin disciplines of the Elite Division will see Norwegian composer Stig Nordhagen, who wrote ‘Myth Forest’ for the 2013 European Championships, joined by respected conductors Ivan Meylemans and Ian Porthouse in assessing the performances of Torstein Aagaard-Nilsen’s set work, ‘Mutant Sonorities’ on the Friday evening.

24 hours later and Scottish musician and leading educationalist Bryan Allen will be joined by international trombonist and conductor Andrew Berryman and Norwegian composer Yngve Slettholm in passing judgement on the own choice repertoire.

Also included in the panels are Thomas Beiganz, the driving force behind the Brass Band Oberösterreich in Austria, as well as leading Norwegian musicians Bjørn Sagstad and Elisabeth Fossan.
