Childs to lead Packer workshop

Dr Robert Childs will be leading the latest John Packer Ltd Brass Band Workshop — so sign up pronto!

Bob Childs in action

John Packer Ltd will be hosting another in their series of highly popular Brass Band Workshops on Saturday 29th March.

Perfect way

This time the world renowned guest musician to lead the day will be Dr Robert Childs — so it is a perfect way for anyone to come along and gain the opportunity to learn from one of the very best players and conductors in the banding world.

Repertoire to be worked on the day includes, ‘Walking With Heroes’ by Paul Lovatt Cooper, ‘Suite from Stabat Mater’ by Karl Jenkins, ‘An American Tale’ by Dan Price, ‘Brassed Off Fantasy’ by Dan Price and ‘1812 Overture’ by Tchaikovsky.

Benefit

Bob told 4BR: "I’m really looking forward to the day. It’s going to be fun, but with a serious musical edge to make sure everyone gains a great deal of benefit from attending."

A John Packer spokesperson added: "While an informal event, the aim is to provide a high standard of performance and to enable those attending to have fun, gain experience and hopefully go home a better musician than when they arrived.

The repertoire will be challenging and designed to tax the grey cells!”

Time, date and place

The day will be held at Richard Huish College in Taunton with registration starting from 9.00am.

Tickets for the day cost £8.50 and must be booked in advance.

Although the day is designed to be a fun event, John Packer Ltd request players to be of a Grade 8+ standard.

The hope is that everyone will leave satisfied at the end of the day having had a highly enjoyable and informative musical exercise!

The event is organised with the kind support of Besson.
