Pemberton strengthens ahead of Blackpool

Pemberton Old Wigan DW Band has added strength to their Winter Garden line up for St Magnus.

Pemberton in action

Following a busy 12 month period that included several personnel changes, Pemberton Old Wigan DW Band has informed 4BR that they have a settled team in place ahead of their top section appearance at the North West Regional Championship in Blackpool on Sunday March 12th.

Bolstered

The cornet section is bolstered by Rebekah Denny with Alex Henshall coming on second baritone — both students at the University of Salford.

Meanwhile, following the departure of Nick Birch to join Fairey, Alice Waterhouse takes on the solo euphonium position. Alice is joined by a fellow RNCM student Carina Lam, who came to the band in time to make her debut alongside Alice at the recent Brass at the Guild Hall competition.

The percussion is also strengthened by returnee Jenny Moore who rejoins following spells at Foden’s, Rainford and, most recently, Leyland.

We will also look to continue to strengthen the band throughout 2014Band spokesperson John Atkinson

Strengthen

Band spokesperson John Atkinson told 4BR: "We are continuing to strengthen, demonstrated best by our second prize at the Brass at the Guild contest at the beginning of the month.

We will also look to continue to strengthen the band throughout 2014.”
