There is a big pot of prize money to be won at the Greenfield & Grasscroft Whit Friday contest this year.

Organisers have announced details for the forthcoming Greenfield & Grasscroft Whit Friday contest, to be held at Greenfield Conservative Club, Chew Valley Road, Greenfield, OL3 7DB on Friday June 13th.

Quick step

It will be the 87th time that the annual ‘quick step’ own choice march contest will be held and the action will kick off at 4.30pm with entries and registration closing at 10.00pm. The adjudicator will be Chris Wormald.

The top prize this year will be £1,000, with £750 and £500 for the other podium finishers.

Generous awards

Other generous prizes see £400 to the top First Section band as well awards and cash prizes for other competing bands and individuals, including youth bands who can compete up until 8.00pm at night.

Wantage Silver Band

August 22 • Wantage Concert Brass (1st Section) are looking for a SOLO HORN and PERCUSSIONIST. Under the direction of our dynamic and inspiring MD Daniel Hall. This year we achieved 3rd at the L&SC regionals. We rehearse Tue & Fri 7:30pm- 9:30pm in our own bandhall

August 20 • Front Row Cornet & Tenor Trombone. We're a friendly, ambitious Second Section band based in South East Northumberland just north of Blyth. We rehearse Tuesdays & Thursdays, 19:30-21:30, and transport can be provided depending on location.


Putney and Wimbledon Brass Band

August 18 • Putney and Wimbledon Band are looking for a percussionist, ideally tune although the ability to play an anvil is an absolute must! We play exciting music with lots of percussion so there's plenty to keep you occupied.
