Just to let you know there are still a few places left for bands wishing to enter the popular Morley March & Hymn Tune contest.

Closing date

The closing date for entries is 24th May, with the contest taking place on Sunday 15th June starting at 1.00pm.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "The Morley & District Lions present the contest and any proceeds from the event are for Lions Charities.

Whilst there are no formal rules it is expected that all bands enter into the spirit of the competition and field their regular band wherever possible."

Format

The format of the contest is in traditional style, comprising a road march along the pedestrian Queen Street, followed by three verses of a hymn tune and a contest march in the band arena at the side of the Town Hall. It is open to all bands from Championship grade to Youth.

The prize fund of £1,600 is topped by a first prize of £500 for the overall winner.
