New cathedral contest set for Wakefield

A brand new entertainment contest is to be held amid the glory of a renovated Wakefield Cathedral next year.

A new brass band entertainment contest will take place in Yorkshire next year, with the announcement of a new venture amid the splendour of Wakefield Cathedral.

Renovation

The impressive cathedral, which boasts the tallest spire in Yorkshire and has just undergone a £3.5 million pound renovation, will host the event at its new open plan area in May 2015.

Hosts

Horbury Victoria Band Secretary Arnold Tattersfield was approached by the Horbury & Ossett Phoenix Rotary Club to look at the feasibility of running a new contest in the area, and after much discussion, the cathedral stated that they would be delighted to host the event.
