Bugle calls for 30 bands

30 bands will take to the streets and open air stage for one of the most famous banding events in the world in Cornwall later this month.

30 bands will be taking part in one of the most famous open air brass band competitions in the world later this month, when the annual West of England Bandsman’s Festival takes place in Bugle in Cornwall.

Royal Trophy

The 90th running of the event on Saturday 21st June will also see each of the bands take part in the traditional march through the village to the contest field at 9.30am, where they will then compete for the vast haul of silverware — topped by the £1000 Championship Section first prize and prestigious 101 year old Royal Trophy.

Judges

There are seven different sections of competition for adjudicators Ian Porthouse and David Marshall, Musical Director of the Band of Her Majesty’s Coldstream Guards to enjoy, with bands from all parts of Cornwall and beyond taking part.

May 15 • We are seeking an enthusiastic and musically skilled Associate Conductor to lead and develop our band alongside our current Musical Director Phil Goodwin. . Rehearsals are Mondays and Wednesdays, 8-10pm at Delph Band Club.


Tintwistle Band

May 15 • We have a vacancy for a soprano cornet, and with lots of exciting engagements coming up we would love to get this seat filled!. We rehearse every Monday and Thursday 8-10pm at our own bandroom in Tintwistle, under the baton of our superb MD, Jim Henson.
