The dates have been announced for two youth brass music workshops which will take place in the lead up to the Museum of Iron Brass Band Festival staged in Coalbrookdale, Shropshire on the weekend of the 19th/20th July.

Funds

Led by Foden’s MD Michael Fowles, the Gorge Music Workshops, sponsored by the Gorge Parish Council who allocated £1,000 from funds given to them by the Portas Fund, will take place on 11th and 18th July in the Engine Room and Classroom at Enginuity.

Young brass musicians of all abilities are invited to apply for a place at the events.

As well as free tuition from Mike, the youngsters will also receive a certificate and a commemorative medal as well as having the opportunity to ‘have a go’ during the weekend of the Brass Band Festival by performing live on stage.

Visitors

The Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival attracts around 5,000 visitors with this year’s events including performances by the Jaguar Land Rover and Jackfield Reisen bands.

Festival Chairman, Neil Fury, told 4BR: "We are immensely grateful to the Gorge Parish Council for their support and we hope all budding young brass musicians in the area will take full advantage of the opportunity to attend the free workshops."
