Hard work and effort pays off for Stalham youth

The hard work and commitment of young school players has been recognised by the Stalham Band.

Award winners

At a number of local schools in the Stalham area of North Norfolk, children have been receiving awards for their service to Stalham Brass Band.

Free

Organised in conjunction with Arts Council England, children have received the free loan of instruments and tuition over the last three years, and when they have advanced to a certain standard they join the main band as trainees, playing at a host of public events.

This week, those who put in extra effort were presented with a certificate and a watch each.

Not only do we ensure a future for our brass bands but we know we are improving the education of future generations as wellStalham MD, Tim Thirst

Importance

Stalham MD, Tim Thirst told 4BR: "The way these children have progressed in their general educational achievements and also their confidence, shows the importance of having worthwhile musical instrument instruction in schools.

Not only do we ensure a future for our brass bands but we know we are improving the education of future generations as well."
