The important all round input of Nigel Seaman to the continued success of National Champions Cory has been given formal recognition with the announcement that he has become the band’s Music Consultant.

Respected

Explaining the new appointment, Musical Director Philip Harper told 4BR: "Since I arrived at Cory I’ve been calling on the expertise and advice of Nigel, who is so well respected throughout the brass world, especially for his sense of stylish musicianship.

He has greatly assisted me in making key decisions about interpretations of new music and we have enjoyed some imaginative conversations about the potential shape and direction of certain performances."

Full respect

He added: "On the occasions when I have been unavailable to conduct, Nigel has stood in for me and has gained the full respect of everyone associated with the band and took the helm for our recent win in the televised Band Cymru competition. I’m now delighted to officially welcome him to the creative team at Cory."

Exciting role

Speaking about his appointment, Nigel Seaman added: "I’m very proud to be taking on this exciting new role with the band.

Cory’s work ethic and creative energy under Philip makes for a very potent and stimulating music-making environment, so I’m very excited about collaborating with him and these great players on future projects."
