Tovey flies in for National Youth Manchester set

Bramwell Tovey will be making his latest trans-atlantic crossing to lead the National Youth Band at Bridgewater Hall this weekend.

Bramwell Tovey has announced the programme on which he will lead the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain in their concert at the Great Northern Brass Arts Festival at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on Saturday.

Flying in

He will be flying into the UK from Canada especially to conduct the band on a programme that features works from Malcolm Arnold, Vaughan Williams, Ireland, Elgar, Imogen Holst and Peter Graham.

Meanwhile, Carlton Main Frickley Colliery has also released details of the concert programme they will perform to open the event.

Under the baton of Leigh Baker, they will feature a rarely heard narrated performance of Elgar Howarth’s ‘Fireworks’ as well as items as diverse as Eric Ball and Freddie Mercury.
