Strata Brass has announced a number of new moves and signings as they look forward to the start of the 2015 contesting season.

New principal

Danny Bell moves from soprano to principal cornet, a role he has been very familiar with in the past, with successful spells on the end chair at Hade Edge and on repiano with Yorkshire Imps before joining Strata on soprano in 2012.

Meanwhile, the experienced Owen Wedgwood, who also conducts Knottingley Silver, comes in on flugel horn from the Harrogate Band.

Secretary Paul Wilkinson told 4BR: “These quality players strengthen the band in preparation for the forthcoming contest season, when we are looking to consolidate our promotion to the First Section.”

The band is hoping to announce another couple of signings shortly.
