Brass in Concert Quiz: The winner

We have had a great response to our Brass in Concert Championship quiz sponsored by Yamaha Musical Instruments — and one lucky winner…

The Sage at night

Thanks to everyone who took the time to enter our Brass in Concert quiz.

Full house

The response showed that it’s no wonder the ‘full house’ signs are up at The Sage once again — with plenty of people trying their luck to get their hands on two sets of tickets and £100 in cash for what promises to be a great weekend of music making in Gateshead.

Katrina Marzella

In the end it was Simon Holland of Shrewsbury, who also plays solo trombone with the Jackfield (Elcock Reisen) Band, who identified that it is Katrina Marzella, who is the Yamaha artist who currently plays a Neo baritone with 2014 Double champions Black Dyke.

And he was certainly delighted with his prize.

“It’s a bit of a shock — but great news as I can now take my father up to the contest to help celebrate his 70th birthday. We’ve always wanted to go, but this makes it a special treat for us both.

I’m really looking forward to the Gala Concert and the contest itself — so my thanks go to Yamaha and 4BR for a great prize.”

Simon will be presented with his tickets and prize money on Saturday at The Sage by Yamaha.

Birthday treat

A Yamaha spokesperson told 4BR: "We felt it would great to be able to offer someone the chance to come to The Sage and enjoy the Brass in Concert experience — and it's great that Simon can now take his father to a wonderful weekend of music making as a birthday treat."
