The National Association of Brass Band Conductors and the Association of Brass Band Adjudicators are to work together on a test piece workshop early next year.

Support

With the welcome support of Bolsover District Council, the event will take place at the Heritage High School, Boughton Lane, Clowne in Chesterfield (S43 4QG) on Sunday 25th January.

The workshop is aimed at providing invaluable guidance about adjudication criteria used in assessing performances of the set works in the Second, Third and Fourth Sections, and will be led by the experienced adjudicator and conductor, David Hirst.

Each work will be performed by the highly successful Unite the Union (City of Sheffield) Band.

Thoughts and opinions

After each performance, David Hirst (Second Section), John Roberts (Third Section) and Sarah Groake-Booth (Fourth Section) will discuss their thoughts and opinions.

Wonderful opportunity

A spokesperson on behalf of both organisations told 4BR: "This event will also provide a wonderful opportunity for NABBC and ABBA colleagues to discuss expected and actual outcomes arising from the workshops and to develop that all important network which we all need to be successful."

The workshop is aimed at providing invaluable guidance about adjudication criteria used in assessing performances of the set works in the Second, Third and Fourth Sections4BR

Free

Entrance (the event starts at 12.30pm and aims to finish at around 4.30pm) is free to members of either association, but membership will also be made available on the day.

Alternatively, entrance for non-members will be £10.
