The Medway Band recently performed at the inaugural Kent Festival of Wind & Brass alongside BAE Systems Band and the Maidstone Wind Symphony.

Also on the bill was guest soloist Owen Farr, accompanied by BAE Systems, who left the audience astounded by his performances. Not to be outdone though, Medway also paraded their own trio of top notch soloists in Elaine Williams (cornet), David Lockwood (bass trombone) and Kevin Kay — Bradley (flugel).

The band also took the opportunity to mark 70 years of outstanding contribution to banding by cornet player Ron Cooper, who was presented with a special certificate4BR

His 70 years spans time spent with bands such as Fairey Aviation, the Central Band of the RAF, Ransome & Marles and a 55 year association with Medway.
