Lancaster leaves MD role at Kippax

David Lancaster has resigned from his role as MD of the Kippax Band in Yorkshire.

Kippax Band

The Kippax Band has announced David Lancaster has resigned as Musical Director of the Yorkshire band.

Work commitments both in the UK and overseas have meant that it would have become increasingly difficult for David to strike a balance between band and his work commitments.

Happy time

Reflecting on his tenure at Kippax, David told 4BR: “I’ve enjoyed five very happy years at Kippax. It’s a wonderful organisation with a distinguished history and an exciting future.

I leave with great sadness since my work commitments dictate that I am no longer able to fulfil the role to the standards I expect and the players deserve. I have many friends in the band and I wish them every success in the future.”

Thanks

Band Chairman Colin Moss added: “I would like to thank David on behalf of the band for the effort, enthusiasm and musicianship he has brought to our organisation over the past five years.

It is fitting that David signed-off with a podium placing at the recent Leicester contest and he leaves on amicable terms and with our best wishes for the future."

New appointment

4BR understands that the band will now seek a permanent replacement early in 2015 and will make further announcements regarding the forthcoming Butlin’s Mineworkers contest in the near future.
