Yamaha has announced that leading Swiss cornet player Patrick Vergères has become their latest high profile Neo artist.

National champion

The principal cornet of newly crowned Swiss National champion Brass Band Treize Etoiles is regarded as one of the country’s leading performers, and is currently undertaking a short concert out entitled, ‘Générations — The 3 Cornets’, with fellow Treize Etoile stars Jeremy Coquoz and Stéphane Rudaz.

Welcome

A Yamaha spokesperson told 4BR: “Patrick is a welcome addition to Yamaha’s family of world class Neo artists.

He is a wonderful player and musician — and we are sure the Neo cornet will help further enhance his wonderful artistic achievements.”

Highly regarded

Patrick joined Brass Band Treize Etoiles in 1992 and has been their highly regarded principal cornet since 1999, winning numerous prestigious prizes at local, national and international competitions.

An innovative soloist he has released a number of CD recordings, including the critically acclaimed ‘Three Cornets’ alongside Raf van Looveren and Harmen Vanhoorne.

Throughout my musical career I’ve always been looking for perfection through innovation, and the Neo encapsulates all of thisPatrick Vergères

Perfection

Patrick told 4BR: “For me, changing to the Neo cornet was a very easy decision to make. Throughout my musical career I’ve always been looking for perfection through innovation, and the Neo encapsulates all of this.

It’s easy to play, comfortable to hold and has a beautiful sound which allows me to express all of my musical ideas. I love playing the cornet, and now even more so since I found the Neo.”
