4BR has had a quick glance through the 2015 New Year Honours List to see if the brass band world has gained any new Knights of the Realm, Companions of Honour, Dames or even ‘Empire’ medal recipients — but there have been none that we can initially find.

This year there were 1,251 people honoured — 69% for outstanding work in their communities.

Those with musical links included BBC Proms Director Roger Wright, Opera Director Richard Jones and jazz trumpeter Guy Barker.
