4BR Editor Iwan Fox recently met up with Alan Morrison and David Hirst to find out more about the future aims and objectives of the Association of Brass Band Adjudicators.

New executive

Following their recent Annual General Meeting a new executive team has been put in place, led by Alan as Chairman, and joined by David as Secretary, alongside an experienced line up of David Horsfield, Phillip Littlemore, Simone Rebello, John Roberts, Derek Southcott and Kevin Wadsworth.

Development

Alan talks about plans to implement ongoing professional development initiatives for ABBA members, to use feedback from contest stakeholders such as bands, conductors and organisers to improve the adjudication process, and to development progressive partnerships with other bodies and organisations.

Service

At the AGM, long serving secretary Brian C Buckley announced his retirement from the post and was formally thanked for his loyal and devoted service with a presentation as a token of esteem from ABBA members and the Executive Committee.

Meanwhile, both Malcolm Brownbill and David Read were appointed as honorary members.
