Young Coalburn trio set to make Perth debuts

A trio of talented youngsters developed through Coalburn Silver Band's long term player development programme are set to make their Scottish Championship debuts.

Coalburn

The Coalburn Silver Band has announced that three young musicians have made a successful transition from their from Bronze Band (Children’s Band) through their Intermediate Band and on to their senior Silver Band in time to make their debuts at the forthcoming Scottish Championship in Perth next month.

Youth policy

16 year old cornetist Emily Barclay, 12 year old EEb tuba player Euan Court, and 17 year old percussionist Jenny Alexander are all products of the band’s innovative youth policy, which has given Coalburn a long term structure of player development.

All three talented youngsters have recently performed at concerts and contests with the senior Silver Band and will now play at the forthcoming Scottish Championship event.

Hard work pays off

Band President Alan Court told 4BR: “We are absolutely thrilled with the progress of all our children and young people, and this trio of outstanding musicians certainly show that hard work and dedication pays off.

We wish to congratulate them all and thank their parents who support them through their musical education — and we are sure they will enjoy their first taste of senior contesting in Perth.”
