Come and join the soundtrack to Brassed Off!

There is a fantastic 'play-along' 'Brassed Off' film afternoon in Lanark this weekend — just bring your instrument and be prepared to have some great fun!

Brassed Off

Lanark Memorial Hall in Scotland is hosting a fantastic ‘Brassed Off’ interactive film event on Saturday 11th April.

Play-along

Just like those hugely popular ‘sing-along’ ‘Sound of Music’ evenings, this one is an afternoon ‘play-along’ version to the iconic film starring Pete Postlethwaite, Tara Fitzgerald and Ewan McGregor.

All you need to do is bring along you instrument and be prepared to have plenty of fun as you get to become a musical part of the box office hit!

William Tell

At different points in the movie where the music features, the sound mix will be faded and the soundtrack performed live — so you can get a chance to play along to ‘Clog Dance’, ‘Death of Glory’, ‘Danny Boy’, ‘Cross of Honour’, ‘The Floral Dance’ and even the National Championship winning version of ‘William Tell”!

Fun

Scott Morrice, Assistant Venue Manager told 4BR: “We want to make it fun and enjoyable for everyone taking part — but it does need a bit of organising, as the film score doesn’t quite fit the traditional parts bands play off.”

He added: “All the music is provided, and we have got some great help from the players of Kirkintilloch Band to ensure everyone knows what they are doing. We will have a ‘top & tail’ session before we roll so that everyone will know what is going to happen.

Then its fingers crossed and let’s have plenty of fun!”

Odd tuning

Oddly though Scott pointed out that as the film sound track is speeded up in places, the tuning may be a bit of an issue!

“We found that at times the original sound track goes about a semi tone up in pitch, so players may have to pull a few slides about as well!!

All you need to do is bring along you instrument and be prepared to have plenty of fun as you get to become a musical part of the box office hit!4BR
