Coalburn enjoy awards galore

Players from all sections of the Coalburn Band organisation have been picking up well deserved awards....

The recent Coalburn Band ‘Awards Night’ was attended by well over 100 band members, supporters and family members.

Winners

A number of awards were made with the Coalburn Bronze Band (Children’s Band) ‘Best Section’ prize going to their young percussion team — comprising 10 year-old Finlay Damer, and 14 year-old Elle Henderson.

The George Blackwood Memorial Trophy to the ‘Most Improved Player’ went to 8 year-old tenor horn player Rory Hunter, whilst the ‘Band Person of the Year’ was presented to 15 year-old Adam Cowan.

Intermediate awards

The Intermediate Band Awards, saw 13 year-old horn player Ross Lyttle win the ‘Most Improved Player’ award with the ‘Player of the Year’ prize claimed by euphonium player David Fehilly and the ‘Players Player of the Year’ trophy going to flugel horn Alex Sheridan.

Senior prizes

The senior Coalburn Silver Band awards saw the ‘Conductor’s Award’ jointly presented to the band’s new percussionist, Jenny Alexander and band stalwart and horn player Alex Sheridan.

The ‘Section of the Year’ went to the front row cornets of Ronnie Wotherspoon, Euan Meikle, Joanne Buchanan and Calum Miller, with the ‘Bandperson of the Year’ award presented to hard working Secretary and Treasurer, Daniel Beadle.

The main ‘Band Player of the Year’, chosen by Musical Director Gareth Bowman, went to Principal Percussionist Jamie Millar.

This was a wonderful night of celebration for the organisation and we look forward with much anticipation to the forthcoming yearBand President Alan Court

September 14 • Audley Brass (First Section National Finalists 2025) are seeking a first class PRINCIPAL EUPHONIUM. We have some very exciting events coming up including 5 epic beer festival nights and Wychavon Festival of Brass entertainment contest.


Longridge Band

September 13 • Longridge Band invite applications for a SOPRANO CORNET player. We are a friendly, committed band, who enjoy a good balance of concerts and contests throughout the year.


Chinnor Silver

September 11 • Our COMMUNITY BAND are meeting again on Monday (15th) and we would welcome any players who fancy joining us for a relaxed and friendly blow.. All abilities are welcome and meeting with us has no impact on your main band.. Cake and coffee included FREE
