Holme Valley set for melody

There should be plenty of great musical action on show at the forthcoming Holme Valley Slow Melody & Ensemble Competition.

Welsh cornets

The 5th Annual Holme Valley Slow Melody & Ensemble Competition will take place at the impressive Bandroom at Hade Edge, near Holmfirth on Saturday 20th June.

There will be five sections with the action starting at 10.00am.

Welcome back

This year the organisers have informed 4BR that they are delighted to welcome back Sandy Smith who adjudicated the very first competition, to once again use his expertise in picking out the prize winners.

The usual sections for junior, open age and veterans will take place along with two ensemble sections — open and junior (18 & under).

Refreshments will be available throughout the day and in addition to the annual trophies, keepsakes are presented to the top three in every section.

It's fantastic to see the resurgence of these events in the area and we look forward to meeting friends old and new on the dayEvent organiser Graham Bates

Fitted in

Event organiser Graham Bates told 4BR: "We've fitted our date in with the many other solo competitions taking place in June. It's fantastic to see the resurgence of these events in the area and we look forward to meeting friends old and new on the day."
