Pippen looks forward to marathon test of Whit

Jonathan Pippen will be heading back to his old stomping later this month when he makes his Whit Friday adjudicating debut at Scouthead.

Leading trombone soloist and conductor Jonathan Pippen continues to gain more top flight adjudicating experience with the news that he will make his judging debut at the famous Whit Friday contests this year.

Man to impress

The Welshman will be the man to impress at the Scouthead contest in Saddleworth — maintaining a line of Celtic judges which in the last few years has seen C Brian Buckley and Tom Davoren in the box.

Jonathan recently completed the ABBA adjudication course and has subsequently adjudicated at the recent Welsh League contest in Merthyr Tydfil, whilst he has also accepted the role at the National Eisteddfod of Wales in August.

Busy time

The latest appointment comes at an increasingly busy time, as he has just returned from a week-long appearance as guest principal trombone with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in Norway.

It's the adjudication equivalent of the London Marathon with over 70 bands regularly competing at the event over 8 hours or soJonathan Pippen.

Looking forward

He told 4BR: "After being asked to play with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, this is another real honour — and one I'm equally looking forward to. It's the adjudication equivalent of the London Marathon with over 70 bands regularly competing at the event over 8 hours or so.

I'm really looking forward to the challenge and of course to hearing some great performances."
