The Kippax Band has announced the appointment of Jack Smith as their new Musical Director.

The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama graduate takes up his appointment following his relocation from London to Holmfirth.

Demand

During his time in the London area, Jack enjoyed a successful period directing Epsom & Ewell Silver, and was also in demand as a guest conductor with other bands such as Horsham Borough and Friary Guildford.

Band Chairman Colin Moss told 4BR: "From his first rehearsal, Jack's attention to detail was very apparent and having invited him back to take further rehearsals the band was unanimously in favour of his appointment.

We now look forward to working with Jack over the summer in preparation for our forthcoming concert and contest programme."

Delighted

Meanwhile, Jack added: "I'm delighted to have been invited to take up this position, and I'm excited by the opportunity it represents.

I felt very welcome at Kippax from my first rehearsal and the band has responded swiftly and positively to me in a short space of time, which I feel bodes very well for our future together."
