Hucknell enjoy tuba led success

A fine day out by the seaside was helped on its way by Hucknall & Linby's prize winning tuba team.

Hucknall

The Hucknall & Linby Band has been celebrating its good contesting fortune after gaining a well deserved victory in the Third Section of the Weston Super Mare Contest.

Focus

MD Paul Whyley decided to enter the contest to keep the band focused in the lead up to the National Finals in Cheltenham in September, and with a cracking rendition of their own choice selection of 'Kaleidoscope' by Philip Sparke off the number 1 draw, the band claimed victory.

Paul told 4BR: "The band played exceptionally well — and from a number 1 draw, and I couldn't have asked for any more from each individual player."

Tuba team

Not only did the band take home the silverware as newly crowned champion, but their tuba team of Simon Gresswell, Dave Witham, Chris Tetley and Tony Watson also picked up the 'Best Bass Section' award.
