Gresswell takes Enderby baton

Yamaha international performance artist Simon Gresswell takes on the MD duties at Enderby.

Enderby

The Enderby Band has announced the appointment of Simon Gresswell as their new Musical Director.

The Yamaha international performance artist has enjoyed an outstanding playing career, having won no less than 20 major titles as part of many of the world's leading brass bands.

Stood out

A spokesman told 4BR: "We were lucky enough to have several high-quality applicants for the vacant musical director position.

However, Simon really stood out for his ability to immediately raise the standard of the band, his work ethic and knowledge.

He obviously relishes the opportunity to be an inspirational figurehead for the whole organisation and we hope he can translate his playing experience and success to his direction of the band."

Delighted

Simon himself added: "I'm delighted to accept the position. I was very impressed how the band made me so welcome and responded in such a short space of time.

They have a great buzz in the bandroom and a superb work ethic. With the structure of bands at Enderby, I'm sure the future is very bright."

Thanks

The band also took the opportunity to thank Chris Small for taking the conducting duties during the appointment process and for helping Enderby secure victory at the recent Wood Farm Brewery Contest.

Simon will make his debut with Enderby at the Pershore Festival of Brass, before leading the band at the Shirebrook 'Brass in the Bandstand' contest.
