Troon set for entertainment battle

A dozen bands will line up for battle in Troon today with the big prize pot for the Land O' Burns contest up for grabs.

Contest day

There is another keen domestic banding battle to enjoy in Scotland today, as 12 bands line up to compete at the popular Land O' Burns Entertainment Contest in Troon.

Organised by the Dalmellington Band the competitors have to produce 20 minute entertainment programmes that must include one Disney inspired item. The reigning champion is the Whitburn Band.

Top prize

With a top prize of £3,000 and a total prize fund of £6,700 there is plenty to play for, with the first band taking to the Troon Concert Hall stage on the stroke of 10.30am to impress music adjudicator Nigel Boddice MBE and visual / entertainment judge Iain Shaw.

A separate award of £500 will be given to the band which they deem to have given the most entertaining performance of the day.

#pq#Get along

The contest is open to bands from Championship Section to Third Section, and with cracking refreshments and tickets just £8.00 and £6.00, why not go along and see who tickles your fancy?
