Midnight calling...

If you want to help Jonny Midnight on his mission to promote new music then you need to get in touch...

Jim Hayes

The man behind the brass band soloist alter-ego that is Jonny Midnight is looking for young composers to help him with his latest musical mission.

Young brass composers

Jim Hayes, principal cornet of the Co-operative Funeralcare Band is due to start work soon on his third 'Jonny Midnight' CD release, and as with his previous two outings, he is hoping to feature as many new works from up and coming young brass composers as he can.

Mission

He told 4BR: "It's become something of a personal mission to try and promote as much new material as I can with these releases — and on this occasion I've been lucky that composers such as Liz Lane and Pete Meechan have already contributed new commissions.

I would love to be able to promote new talent again — so if any young composer wants to try their hand and give Jonny Midnight some extra ammunition I would be delighted of they got in touch!"

The CD will be recorded on the World of Sound label next February.
