Renshaw returns to Stannington

Derek Renshaw makes a welcome return to his local band at Stannington.

Stannington Brass Band has announced the appointment of the vastly experienced Derek Renshaw as their new Musical Director.

Derek has always retained close links with his local band and has led them to several successes — including promotion to the Yorkshire Championship Section in 2008.

In the past few years Derek has also enjoyed considerable contesting success with other bands in the region, including directing the winning performances at three Yorkshire Area First Section contest and a brace of First Section National Championship victories (above).

Warm welcome

Band Chairman David Woolley told 4BR: "We offer Derek a warm welcome back to the band and under his direction we look forward to successful contesting seasons ahead."

Derek takes over from caretaker conductor, Garry Hallas, who has accepted the position of Associate Conductor with the band, and who recently led the band at the Bolsover Festival of Brass.
