The Fulham Band will be premiering a major new work for brass band and piano later this month.

'Concerto for Piano & Brass Band' comes from the pen of local composer Robert Ely and will feature renowned pianist Steven Millar in a performance directed by MD, John Ward.

Critical acclaim

Robert Ely is a former Senior Bandmaster of the 2nd Battalion the Parachute Regiment and since leaving the Army has enjoyed critical acclaim for his varied portfolio of works — from light and military music to a significant number of classic works for symphonic wind band, orchestra and various chamber ensembles.

He has recently completed a full scale opera 'Repatriation' (2013) and a Chamber Oratorio 'War Memorial' and earlier this year was the only UK composer to reach the final of 'Coup de Vents', a significant international symphonic wind band competition held in France.

Soloist

Steven Miller has performed as a soloist for many BBC Radio2 broadcasts in a series called '...at the Piano' and has worked as pianist and as assistant MD on numerous musicals in the West End and surrounding counties.
