Outstanding Bolsover success gains Crompton award

The outstanding success of the Bolsover Festival of Brass has been recognised with an employee award for Carole Crompton.

Bolsover

Carole Crompton, one of the brass band movement's most influential innovators, has been presented with a 'Bolsover District Council Employee Award' in recognition of the outstanding success achieved by this year's Bolsover Festival of Brass.

Leadership

The award is given each quarter for an employee's outstanding council work — with Carol's organisational leadership of the Festival of Brass, which included a hugely successful worldwide on-line broadcast, gaining plaudits from council leaders, participants and audience alike.

Carole has now received the award a record five times over the last four years — three times as an individual and twice as part of the 'Team Award'.

So many others

Carole told 4BR: "I'm delighted to receive the award, but it is one that recognises the superb work of so many others surrounding the success of this year's Festival of Brass.

The result of all that hard work was an event to be proud of — and one that showed that the Council's commitment to brass banding along with its partners is seen as one of excellence as well as innovation."

Arts projects

In the past few years Carole's work has also gained Council recognition for the development of innovative arts projects with the likes of the Halle Orchestra and Olympic Torch Relay.
