Wingates add six pack strength

Six new players add to the Wingates challenge ahead of North West Area.

Wingates

The Wingates Band has announced the signing of six new players ahead of their North West Regional Championship Section challenge in Blackpool on February 28th.

Craig McFarland, Gwen McFarland, Dave Black and David Notley join the cornet section, whilst Melanie McFarland and Chris Billington come in on tenor horn.

Commitment and desire

MD, Paul Andrews, told 4BR: "All the players bring a level of commitment and desire that is vital in this level of banding and have joined us at a busy time, with exciting new projects and concerts.

They are also looking forward to the forthcoming contesting season and I welcome them to an ambitious and confident band."

Recent announcements

The news follows the recent announcement of Wingate's sponsorship link with brass repairing company Brass Toff ltd and an encouraging podium finish at the Brass at the Guild contest in Preston.

The band will be hoping to add to their record of victories at the event, which last saw them lift the top section trophy in 1995.
