Shirebrook Council announce more concert and contest support

Shirebrook Town Council continues to support brass banding with a weekend of concert and contest music making — and plenty of prize money...

Shirebrook Town Council has announced further support for the brass banding movement with the welcome news that it will once again host the Shirebrook Town Music Festival linked through the innovative Grant for the Arts funding from Arts Council England.

Foden's Concert

The event will take place over the weekend of 9th/10th July with an opening concert given by Foden's Band at Shirebrook Leisure Centre (NG20 8JQ) on the evening of Saturday 9th July (7.00pm).

Entertainment contest

The following day the Shirebrook Brass Band Open Entertainment Contest will take place at the same venue. The contest will be open to any band (contesting or non-contesting), with a generous prize package on offer headed by a first prize of £750.

The entry fee of just £50, with podium prizes of £400 and £200 and an additional £200 for both the 'Most Entertaining' Second, Third and Fourth Section bands respectively.

The Shirebrook Brass Band Open Entertainment Contest will be open to any band (contesting or non-contesting), with a generous prize package on offer headed by a first prize of £7504BR

Tickets for the Foden's Band concert will be available from Shirebrook Leisure Centre on 01623 748313 or Shirebrook Town Council on 01623 742475 priced at £12 and £10 concessions.
