Haydock land gig on musical island

Newly crowned North West champion Haydock will be featured on BBC Radio 4 this week.

Haydock Band, the recently crowned North West Regional Second Section champion, will be making an appearance on BBC Radio 4 this week on Laura Barton's popular 'Notes from a Musical Island'.

The programme will be broadcast on Saturday 12th March at 10.30am, and will feature the band in performance and a number of members interviewed.

Presenter Laura and producer Alan Hall attended a rehearsal and interviewed Godfrey Irving, Lisa Forbes and Karen Unsworth about how music has impacted their lives. The series sees Laura exploring different areas of the country to find out how music making plays a central part in community life.

Another accolade

Haydock MD, Mark Quinn told 4BR: "Being asked to be part of the programme is another accolade for the band. Alan and Laura could have visited many different organisations but were keen to get us involved as the band's reputation for being an integral part of our community is well known."
