National Youth stick to principals

The principal players have been chosen for the Easter course of the National Youth Band of Great Britain.

The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain is currently rehearsing at Taunton School in Somerset on its 2016 Easter Course under conductors Bramwell Tovey, Music Director of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Guest Conductor Jamie Phillips, Associate Conductor of the Halle Orchestra.

Farr

The featured Guest Soloist this year is tenor horn virtuoso, Owen Farr, whilst the players are being tutored by Mark Wilkinson, Paul Young, Elaine Williams, Owen Farr, David Childs, Christopher Jeans, John Maines, Les Neish and Andrea Price.

This course celebrates the 64th anniversary of the band, and will conclude with concerts at Wells Cathedral on Thursday 31st March (7.30pm) and at Cheltenham Town Hall on Friday 1st April (7.30pm).

Works to be featured this year include: 'Dances and Arias' (Gregson); 'Le Carnaval Romain' (Berlioz); 'The Force of Destiny' (Verdi); 'Journey into Freedom' (Ball) and 'Concerto for Tenor Horn' (Pankhurst).
