80 years of Yorkshire Imperial musical heritage will be celebrated next month

80 years of the outstanding history of the Yorkshire Imperial Urquhart Travel Band will be marked next month with a special concert in Ossett Town Hall where past and present members will join forces to celebrate their remarkable musical heritage.

The Imps

Formed in 1936 as The Yorkshire Copper Works Band near Leeds, an industrial merger in 1958 created Yorkshire Imperial Metals — creating the name that became famous throughout the banding world — 'The Imps' (seen above in 1978 at the Royal Albert Hall).

In the 1990's David Urquhart Travel stepped into the breach in order to support the band, and has generously backed them for over 20 years.

Achievements

The concert will celebrate their numerous contesting achievements — including British Open, National Championship, Brass in Concert and Yorkshire Area victories.

It is hoped that former players and their legion of worldwide fans will join them for the special event which will feature many of the current band's top class soloists.
