One of the rising cornet stars of Welsh banding recently added to her ever growing list of personal achievements by winning the 'Best Soloist' award at the North Wales Annual Championships in Ruthin.

Ela Haf Williams won the award competing with Deiniolen Youth Band that came runner-up in the Youth Class 6A, before later playing with Deiniolen Senior Band who won the senior Open Class.

Great week

It finished off a great week for Ela, as she had earlier received an invitation to play repiano cornet for the National Youth Brass Band of Wales on their 2017 summer course under the leadership of Ian Porthouse.
