David Boorer will leave his role as MD of Phoenix Brass (Crewkerne) with the West of England band looking forward to life in the Second Section in 2017.

David Boorer led Phoenix Brass (Crewkerne) to the Third Section West of England title in 2016.

Phoenix Brass (Crewkerne) has announced that after leading the band with great success, their Musical Director David Boorer will be leaving his role due to his family moving away from the area in the New Year.

Promotion

A spokesperson told 4BR: "After a wonderful recent Christmas concert David announced that he was leaving the band. He joined us in January 2015 and has led us to many highlights and successes — the best of which sees the band return to the Second Section in 2017."

2016 saw Phoenix Brass (Crewkerne) crowned West of England Third Section champion and go on to perform admirably at the National Finals for the first time since 1999.

It's no doubt that David's wealth of experience and knowledge with the Royal Marines Band for over 30 years has been instrumental in our recent successes. He will leave 'a big void' to fill!Band spokepserson

Big void to fill

The spokesperson added: "It's no doubt that David's wealth of experience and knowledge with the Royal Marines Band for over 30 years has been instrumental in our recent successes. He will leave 'a big void' to fill!

We wish David, Sally and their new little family all the very best in their new ventures in Lincolnshire and hope they will plan a holiday in Somerset to visit us very soon!"
