The new 2017 contest season in Cornwall will kick off with a Festival in Newquay

The Cornwall Brass Band Association will be kick starting its 2017 season by holding a 'Festival of Cornish Brass' on Saturday 4th February at St Michael's Church in Newquay.

Support

A spokesperson for the Association told 4BR: "This is the first time we have organised such an event. Support from our member bands for our annual contest has been declining in previous years, and we have had to cancel it.

We hope that the Festival of Cornish Brass will establish a regular date for the Cornwall Brass Band Association in the banding calendar, and we can build on this year on year to eventually reinstate the contest."

The spokesperson added: "It promises to be a day full music showcasing Cornwall's brass bands at their very best."

Time and place

The Festival of Cornish Brass will start at 10.00am. Entry tickets are £5 per person, with under 10's free.
