Brass for Africa set for Royal Albert Hall

One of the great success stories of the Brass for Africa charity will perform alongside Alison Balsom, Guy Barker and Sir Bryn Terfel at the Royal Albert Hall

Brass for Africa
Ronald will perform with the British jazz trumpet legend Guy Barker.

Life didn't start easily for Ronald; from street child to growing up in an orphanage.

However, thanks to the Brass for Africa Charity, Ronald discovered music living at the Mlisada home and became a leading light on trombone. He has since gone on to be trained and now works as a brass teacher for the charity.

Passion

Brass for Africa founder James Trott exclusively told 4BR: "Along with his passion for music Ronald has always had the ambition to become a lawyer.

Brass for Africa has supported, funded and enabled Ronald to study for a Law Diploma this past year. Having achieved a First Class Diploma, he will be enrolling for his Law Degree course later this year, although he will continue to share his love of music by teaching and playing with Brass for Africa whilst studying".

High profile

Ronald has also been invited by trumpet virtuoso and Brass for Africa Patron Alison Balsom to represent the charity on stage at her high-profile 'Alison Balsom and Friends' concert at the Royal Albert Hall on March 12th, where he will perform with legendary jazz trumpeter, composer and big band favourite Guy Barker, who is also a Brass for Africa Patron.

Tickets

Also on the star-studded programme is the renowned Welsh bass baritone Sir Bryn Terfel, Gabriel Prokofiev and world class organist David Goode.

Jim Trott added: "Ronald is very excited to be visiting the UK and performing with such esteemed musicians at such an iconic venue.

He arrives at the end of February in time to perform with the Brass for Africa Brass Band at a special African Spectacular concert on 5th March in Ascot where he will be premiering Alan Fernie's trombone solo 'Entebbe Road' with Alan conducting.

Ronald's incredible journey shows what is possible with determination and opportunity, he has provided the determination and Brass for Africa, through brass music, has provided the opportunity."
