Foden's thanks for 30 years of special patronage

Foden's Band will be thanking a very special of group of long term supporters this year.

Fodens
The support of the Foden's Patrons has kept the North West band at the forefront of the banding world

2017 marks the 30th anniversary of the 'Foden's Patron Society'.

Set up in 1987 it now has over 400 members who are kept up to date with news of what Foden's is doing by a highly successful 'Fanfare' newsletter, which provides news of concerts, latest recordings, signings and essential information about the current North West champion.

Success

Such has been the success of the Society that the popular 'Patrons Choice CD' series has now reached its tenth incarnation — and has become one of the band's best selling items of merchandise and memorabilia. Over the years the Patrons have also provided funding for new instruments as well as with help with bandroom refurbishment.

The annual Patron's Concert in Sandbach has therefore become one of the most important events in Foden's calendar and at this year's event the latest CD in the series — 'Patrons Choice X' will be launched.

Memories and thanks

The first of these recordings was dedicated to the memory of David Brunsdon — a former baritone player in the band who was tragically killed in a road accident in 1991. Subsequent releases have also been dedicated to individuals and groups of people who have made a significant contribution to the success of the band.

This year it has been dedicated to all those individuals, companies and bands that supported Foden's following their devastating bandroom fire last April.

Perfect way

Band Manager Mark Wilkinson told 4BR: "The support of the Patrons has been essential in maintaining Foden's position as one of the world's finest brass bands.

The annual Patrons Concert has become the perfect way to say thank you to them, but to also show that their band remains a beacon of musical excellence.

Over the past 30 years we have been indebted to them and we will continue to be so for many more years to come."
