Wychavon welcomes entertainment entries

The popular Wychavon Festival of Brass is open for entries — and has been boosted by an increase in prize money.

A further boost in the generous prize fund should see even more entries for this year's popular event

The popular Wychavon Festival of Brass is welcoming entries for this year's event which takes place at the De Montford School in Evesham on Saturday 28th October.

The 2016 contest attracted bands from all over the UK and saw Eccles Borough under Marieka Gray not only claim a superb Championship/First Section 'Double', secure direct entry into the Senior Trophy at the British Open Spring Festival.

Boost

Not only does the contest continue that link to the British Open, it is also boosted by a very generous prize fund of close on £7,000, which has been further enlarged this year by an extra £500, with new £100 entertainment prizes in each section to reward the visual aspects of performance.

Sense of fun

Event Chairperson, Dr Val Trim, told 4BR: "The contest has been going from strength to strength in recent years, but we are always looking to grow and improve. This year's added entertainment prize money will reward those bands who want to showcase their sense of fun!

It promises to be a great day and we look forward to welcoming bands from across the country to the contest in October."
