4BR has been informed that David Hamilton has resigned from his role as Musical Director of Yorkshire Imperial David Urquhart Travel Band.

The former winner of the NABBC Conductors Competition and resident conductor at Camborne Band, took over the role in September 2016, and led 'Imps' to the Bolsover Entertainment title and fourth place at the Wychavon contest, but did not direct them at the recent Yorkshire Regional Championships.

He told 4BR: "I'm sorry to be leaving Yorkshire Imps but over time it has become obvious that the band and I have conflicting ideas on how to move forward.

I would like to wish them every success in the future. I will now take some time before finding a new project, but in the meantime I will enjoy preparing Lanner & District Band for the their forthcoming West of England Area Championship appearance."
