Black Dyke Band fans from every corner of the brass band world will be able to enjoy the newly crowned Yorkshire Area champion in concert this evening — thanks to a special internet broadcast.

'Portraits of Tibshelf', is an innovative community based project funded by Bolsover District Council through their Planning Policy for Public Art, and will be shown live on Saturday March 18th.

Celebration

The event is the culmination of a project started in early 2016 in collaboration with the renowned iPad artist Mik Godley, composers Philip Sparke and Jonathan Bates, percussionist Simone Rebello and Black Dyke Band.

The public art initiative is linked to a new local Keep Moat housing development in Tibshelf, with the partnership celebrating the unique history of the area by involving the pupils of the nearby Tibshelf Infant and Nursery Schools, Tibshelf Junior School and Tibshelf Community School.

Live broadcast

Brass band fans can enjoy the live event broadcast (which starts at 6.00pm with the concert 7.00pm) by visiting the First Art website on:
http://www.firstart.org.uk/whats-on/black-dyke-band-live-tibshelf and clicking the Broadcast page.

You will have to simply out a few details, bookmark the page and log in for the broadcast on the day itself. You can then watch from the comfort of your own hone accompanied by a glass of wine and chocolates if you wish!

Be a part

You can also be a part of the event yourself by using the hashtag #festofbrass on Twitter or Facebook, with your comments being used to be featured during the interval.

The pre-recorded broadcast part of the event will start on Saturday afternoon, with the live broadcast beginning at 6.00pm with a series of interviews with those taking part. The concert itself begins at 7.00pm.

The First Art organisers told 4BR: "First Art are excited to be involved once again with another live broadcast and look forward to working with the fantastic Black Dyke Band."
